Throughout all the Shrek films there are references to several fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Being acquainted with Nursery rhymes and traditional fairy tales broadens our horizons and makes it easier for us to understand when we come across references to this important part or the cultural background of native speakers . Sometimes it is difficult for a non-native speaker to understand the language because there is a lot of shared knowledge that we don´t know of.
